The University of Illinois Extension will present a free workshop titled “Get Growing with Vegetables!” from noon-1:00 p.m. at various locations throughout Champaign County during the month of April. Dates and locations for the workshop are

• Friday, April 3, 2009 Orchard Downs Learning Resource Center, 2044A Orchard Street, Urbana
• Thursday, April 9, 2009 Rantoul Public Library, 106 W. Flessner Ave, Rantoul
• Monday, April 13, 2009 Douglass Branch Library, 504 E. Grove Street, Champaign
• Wednesday, April 15, 2009 Anita Purves Nature Center, 1505 N. Broadway, Urbana
• Tuesday, April 21, 2009 St. Joseph Township-Swearingen Memorial Library, 201 N. Third Street, St. Joseph

“Get Growing with Vegetables!” is part one of a series of Prosperity Garden workshops designed to help people learn what they need to know in order to become a successful vegetable gardener. During these difficult financial times more and more people are looking for ways to cut costs. One way is by starting a Prosperity Garden – the 21st Century Victory Garden in your own backyard. The idea behind Prosperity Gardens is to expand our budget, grow our community and enhance our health through gardening.
